Since the rose belongs to a subgroup of English musk hybrids, it is very similar in its external characteristics to musk roses. Another group of roses, from which it has hereditary characteristics – old tea roses. And those, and those displayed in the fragrance – an admixture of musk on the background of a tea rose. It is nice and unobtrusive.
The rosebud MOLINEUX has an oval shape with a sharp top, dense, painted in lemon yellow. The soft yellow color of the flower, consisting on the average of 110-120 petals, at the edge of the flower is semi-transparent, like chiffon. The same yellow inside the flower is juicy. Over time, the flower fades slightly, and the color becomes more uniform. In the fully open state, it opens the middle of the stamens. Blossoms on new shoots this year. The average diameter of the flowers is 7 cm. They bloom with small brushes throughout the season. Flowering begins at the end of spring (depending on the weather conditions of the growing place) and continues until frost.
The bush of the English rose MOLINEUX consists of erect branches that end with a blossoming brush. It is dense and full of large green shiny foliage. On the shoots there are a few spikes. Escape, as a rule, low, and in warm regions inclined to grow longer – 2 m and more, which makes it possible to grow a rose there as a short clymer. Also it can be grown in containers and for cutting into bouquets.
Rosa MOLINEUX is suitable for almost all types of soils, but it is desirable that it is loose, with good drainage and rich in useful substances. PH-soil from 5.5 to 6.5. It is also important that your chosen location is not affected by winter northwest winds, which contribute to frostbite and death of the plant in winter. It is also necessary to take into account the depth of occurrence of the upper groundwater: the closer they are to the surface, the more likely is the decay of the roots of the flower.
Like all plants, the English rose MOLINEUX loves to be looked after, despite its resistance to diseases and colds. It should be watered as necessary. For 1 adult shrub you need 10 liters of warm water, which is poured portionwise over the entire area of growth of the root system. It usually takes 2 waterings a week, but it all depends on weather conditions: if the weather is hot, then water more often. Once or twice a week the bush is fed. The first fertilizing is carried out in the spring with fertilizers with an increased nitrogen content. To form flower buds of a rose, phosphorus-potassium top dressings are needed. To keep the rose healthy and strong, it still needs vitamins and trace elements, sold in all garden centers, which should be brought in by spraying in the evening hours. The absence of sunlight, drying the liquid quickly, at night will give the opportunity to absorb the maximum of useful substances.
Loosening and weeding will ensure the purity around the rose, reduce the real number of weeds, pests, make easy access to water and air to the roots. Another chance to get a beautiful plant is the use of pruning. It is necessary to remove old, diseased and damaged shoots, during flowering, trim the faded flowers. In warm regions, medium pruning is used, in cold areas – short. To form roses, the clay is cut off poorly. In any case, the bush is left to 7-9 basic skeletal branches – the more you leave the branches, the more the flower will thicken and as a result it will be poorly ventilated, the diseases and pests will spread quickly.
The English rose MOLINEUX can be grown in a bush form, as a stumpy variant or stamping, in open and closed ground. It is best used to create hedges, in large flower-tree plantings (mixboarder, tapeworm …), in rosaries, as ground cover, and also in dissimilar containers. It is suitable for any style of garden. In team-mates, for example, you can plant lavender, poppies, salvia, nepeta, Alchemilla mollis, Stachys byzantina with her etc.
